The Common Koel that I posted about last week is still around. This morning he sat in the pine tree next door. I thought it was worth another post since this time I was able to record both the coo-ee part of his call and also the frantic shrieking at the end. Fortunately he hasn't been calling right outside my window at night again.
WOW! It's very sqweaky and punchy. Now I can understand what you meant in your previous post :D

ReplyDeleteThank you, Duncan. I wish I knew more about the calls. Early this morning - at first light - the bird called again and seemed to be answered by one over in the bush but the call was slightly higher pitched. I wonder if it was a female or a juvenile?

Hey that really is a beautiful sound especially for a Tasmanian who can turn it of with the click of the mouse. Maybe you could throw your mouse at it. They are fruit eaters I beleive so at least the mouse won't get eaten.
